🤳’La Selfie’ and ‘La Feminist’: A night playing Millennial Lotería 🧜‍♀️

Lotería is a traditional Latino card game that heavily relies on chance. Someone will go through the deck of brightly illustrated cards out loud as players mark the corresponding ones on their own card.

Millennial Lotería uses the same premise but instead features cards with references to the generation’s pop culture.

For folks who grew up playing with the original cards, the Millennial Lotería may take a bit of getting used to. “Las Jaras” are now “El Hashtag”, “La Sirena” is now “La Selfie,” but the laughs and competitiveness of the original game remain unchanged.

Attendees at this year’s National Association of Hispanic Journalists conference had the opportunity to give this parody version a try, some for the very first time.
