PHILADELPHIA — The annual conferences put on by the National Association of Hispanic Journalists are special to Miguel Martinez-Valle.

It was thanks to an NAHJ conference that he found his job as a morning reporter for NBC 10 and Telemundo 62 in Philadelphia.

But like many attendees this year, he couldn’t get the week off work to join the gathering virtually. So he’s been multitasking, catching panels between story assignments and other demands from his job as a morning reporter for NBC 10 and Telemundo 62 in Philadelphia.

Valle, who is the president of a local NAHJ chapter, was born in Guaymas, Mexico and raised in Michigan. He began doing journalism in his early days in school, making the morning announcements, and never stopped.

María Paula Mijares Torres is a junior at Drexel University in Philadelphia, where she studies communications with a concentration in journalism. Originally from Venezuela, she is completing a co-op at the Philadelphia Inquirer and continues to contribute to her student newspaper, The Triangle. She hopes to become an investigative reporter.
