Inhala, exhala: Journalists find their center in run club, yoga at NAHJ

The New Orleans’ humidity didn’t stop members of National Association of Hispanic Journalists from running a 5K this week. Participants arrived for morning stretches as the sun rose through the lobby doors of the New Orleans Marriott. 40 floors higher, members chests rose and fell to the rhythm of singing bowls and sweat dripped onto the black yoga mats.
NAHJ Cares, a wellness initiative for Latino Journalists, powered morning yoga classes, guided mediations, and a run club for conference attendees. Nick Valencia and Xochilt Garcia, the “early birds” that attended, decompressed from the long sessions and the harsh demands of the journalism industry.
